Sunday Stroll

Just a few pictures from a Sunday afternoon stroll down Queen's Walk in South Bank, London. A nice way to wind down with a few friends and a relative after two wedding shoots the previous day...

Time to chill out this week before a massive weekend with 3 wedding shoots in 2 days! Amazing locations too, pictures will be up next week.

Hasselblad

So what's the big deal with this camera.

In the UK it costs £9,995+ VAT just for the body. It's not the sexiest thing to carry around, and the name is half of the Hoff! Well, the price is in the quality of the picture. The sharpness, contrast and detail is just sick...

So I had a go on this "overpriced" camera at the Digital Photo & Imaging Show (DPI Show) in Business Design Centre, London - waiting patiently the Hasselblad Representative tried to persuade me that this camera is worth investing on. "Just wait and see the result" he says....

Yeah right...

OK, OK I felt like the guy who Matt Damon said "How do you like them apples" to in Good Will Hunting - I ate my own words and prayed for the day I'd win the lottery so I can afford one of these bad boys. Look at the details!...

Zoom towards the eyes... Check out how sharp that is!

Still unimpressed? Well it's hard to explain. It's like owning an Atari and you just had a go at your friend's Playstation 3, or playing in front of 90,000 people in Wembley when you usually play in non-league football. It certainly was an experience. Below are more pictures I took...

So the question is... Would you spend £10,000 on a camera? Answers on a postcard please...

Messin Up The Weekend.

Fridge, Brixton opened up their venue to live music for the first time in 15 years with Suzerain as the headline.

This was a last minute invite from FeedMeMusic to shoot a special night for both the venue and the organisers. Pretty exciting stuff to welcome back great live acts through their doors with new lighting and sound system as they try to work alongside the other iconic venue, O2 Academy Brixton.

Stealing Green played in Astoria 2 when the last time I shot a Messin Up The Weekend gig and it has been a long time since I did some stuff with them, to be honest I'm glad to be back into the scene as I've always enjoyed the bands they put on.

The headline band Suzerain have been around for a couple of years, including playing a part at the O2 Wireless Festival and headlined to over 2000 people at the Angra Rock Festival in Azores - later on in July 2009 they will be in Roma Rock and Bocadillo in Italy. They've also picked up an Indy Award for Best UK Alternative Act in 2007.

"Suzerain" were the chants from the crowd as Tom (Vocals), Richard (Guitar), Mike (Bass), Matt (Keys/Cello) and Ben Howe (Drums) played an amazing set for their followers, quite a number of them too. After a dodgy late meal plus a long underground journey, I backed up the photos I shot whilst listening to the acoustic version of Life on Film on their Myspace page....mesmerising!

Credit also to the support acts Capelle, Harrison Hope, Harry Lee and My Preserver. Click on their title and visit their individual Myspace page.
